Santa Giulia

Hello,

We are planning our first holiday to Corsica in July 2006. We are looking to stay at the Castell verde studios (self catering) in Santa Giulia and would appreciate any advice/comments on the area and the accomodation.

We holiday almost evey year in Greece and have visited several different islands. We are hoping to experience something similar to the Greek holidays we enjoy, i.e. quiet, relaxing, culture, scenery, food, weather?

Also, is two weeks too long in Corsica or is there plenty to visit?

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks

At the end of a wet and cold May, it feels like two years wouldn%26#39;t be too long in Corsica! Roll on July.

I%26#39;ve found Corsica had a lot in common with Cyprus (no I know it%26#39;s not Greece) in that idling time away by the pool or the beach is fine, but the weather will be hot (but early 30%26#39;s rather than Greece%26#39;s 40+), the scenery is stunning, the culture is a little bit inpenetrable. There%26#39;s historical stuff here and there but it%26#39;s the island%26#39;s beauty that will be your abiding memory.

The big difference you%26#39;ll possibly notice is food, where the cuisine is part French, part Italian, part ethnic Corsican with a dash of seafood. You%26#39;ll also have to look harder to find cheap restaurants in the bigger towns than you would in Cyprus/Greece.

Above all, get around. From Santa Giulia, Bonifacio and Propriano are within easy reach and well worth the trips. But do try and venture inland towards Zonza and maybe up towards Corte.

Thanks Geoff, this is most helpful. We plan to hire a car for the full two weeks and explore as much of the island as possible.... we will definately take your advise on the locations mentioned.

Corsica here we come!

Thanks again, Dave
