Could someone please clarify: Is Aix pronounced: %26quot;ax%26quot;, %26quot;ex%26quot; or %26quot;aches%26quot;?

Congratulations MorganB!
That must be the record shortest post that I%26#39;ve seen so far on TA.

Thanks :) that was my goal heh.

Thanks. Are there any other opinions, or do we have a consensus that the correct pronunciation is %26quot;x%26quot;?
|||
dont worry iget, my info is good. Lived in the south of france for a year and have been to Aix about 15 times.

Yes. In Americanese, it%26#39;s pronounced the same way that you%26#39;d refer to an ex-girlfriend, etc.
You can use it for Aix-en-Provence, Aix-les-Bains, etc
And public x%26#39;s on the cheek are more culturally accepted than public o%26#39;s. Too much lipstick might get somebody in trouble.

Going to Aix en Provence on the way to Arles. Any recommendations for a quaint place to stay for two older women in the area.

Ohh sorry I am not really up on places to stay. I usually stay at the Sofitel Palm Beach in Marseille because I like the location on the coast and the incredible views. Probably not ideal for your needs though.

I just looked up Aix-en-Provence on a language demo site (http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php) and it sounds a lot more like eh-on-provence...what gives?

You found a language simulator that was taught French by someone who doesn%26#39;t know how to pronounce Aix. Just that simple...
