Judy/JBart,
Any favorite restaurants in La Garde-Freinet for lunch on the way from Nice to St. Trop?
Thanks.

Hi Again
I haven%26#39;t stopped for lunch for a long time - they changed the times of the trains and recently the car and us have been kicked off in Avignon at 6am!!!! In fact we are home for breakfast. However, as you drive from Le Luc (I presume we are still coming down from the mountains) you drive into La Garde-Freinet. Just after arriving in the main part of town the road turns left (it will be signposted Grimaud, St Tropez) and a few doors down on the left is La Sarrazine which has been done up over the years but always did good honest food at amazing prices. A little further along the road on the left again is La Faucado. You go through the gate and down some stairs into this amazing garden. I remember ordering pate there and they just brought up this huge terrine which you helped yourself from. As I have not been for many years I suggest you park, easy parking on the road, and check out the menus. If it is a lovely day the garden might sway you. La Faucado used to be in the Michelin but no longer not sure why it dropped from favour. If you want Michelin you will need to go onto Grimaud.
Did I ever mention Auberge la Verdoyante below Gassin to you? It is a restaurant with views over the Golfe of St Tropez set in the vineyards of Minuty.

Hi Jeff
I think I was having a senior moment last night or it was too late. I remember you are going to L%26#39;Escalet the first week in July so forget mountain comment, sorry. Are you coming from Nice via Le Luc and avoiding Ste Maxime that way ? If you are travelling on the 1st or 2nd July I would strongly advice avoiding Ste Maxime at all costs. Anything else can can help with just post.

Judy,
Thanks, I%26#39;ll look into those. And yes, I do plan to avoid St. Maxime at all costs. We%26#39;re going Le Luc - La Garde and then around through Gassin and Ramatuelle to L%26#39;escalet.
Your restaurant recommendation at Chateau M. sounds lovely. Another place set in a vineyard that I%26#39;ve never been but am planning on checking out this time round is called Ferme Ladouceur. Ever been there?

No I%26#39;ve never been there but I would be interested to know what you think of it when you get back. We are not off until August this year.
