salut,
we want to get the train from paris to tours and then rent a car to drive to amboise. I have looked up the train timetable and there is a train from PARIS MONTPARNASSE 1 ET 2 13h55 to ST PIERRE DES CORPS 14h54 and then ST PIERRE DES CORPS 14h59 TOURS GARE 15h04 which would cost E30. Would this be the right train and would we be best to book these now before we arrive in France or could we just turn up on the day %26amp; purchase the tickets?
Thank you.

You found the fare on the SNCF web site, right? This sounds like an advance purchase non-refundable discounted ticket known as a PREMs. You will not be able to get this fare on your travel date and in fact it will disappear as soon as the number of seats allocated at that price has been sold. You should purchase it online providing your travel plans are firm. Before you do so take a look at MorganB%26#39;s excellent post here:

It will help guide you through the not always user-friendly SNCF ordering process.
Second, the car rental agencies all have locations at St. Pierre des Corps, the TGV station just outside Tours so no need to go on to Tours Gare.
And third you will almost certainly save money by booking your rental before you leave NZ.

thanks so much that is perfect help! I%26#39;ll go on %26amp; book those fares as our plans won%26#39;t be changing unless there is some major disaster and will book to the St Peirre Des Corps station! Thank you!!

You are most welcome! Don%26#39;t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.
And just BTW you could do worse than check out Le Cheval Blanc in Bléré between Tours and Chenonceau for a meal or whatever...
