Assistance with my detailed Paris Itinerary

Hello, everybody:)

I know this is a very detailed itinerary, but I do not want to waste time wondering, what%26#39;s next, or how to get from point a to b....

No, I am not insane:)

I just love to plan everything as much as I can.

I am HOPING TO KEEP all the points of interest on it, but I would APPRECIATE any suggestions in terms of order, and also, ANSWERS to questions in italics (best route to Eiffel from Champs Elysees, whether or not to skip the Pompidou, and the best street to walk from Sacre Coeur to Moulin Rouge)

THANK YOU SOOO much!

Agnes

At the Rond-Point des Champs Elysses, near the FDR Metro, there is a stop for the 42 bus, which you can ride to the Eiffel Tower. Also an earlier stop on the Champs Elysses across from the Grand Palais.

The Batobus is handy for traveling on the Seine, and a ticket is good all day.

In the Louvre complex, proceed to the far courtyard [heading east], take a right and cross on the Pont des Arts. This is the little pedestrian footbridge right below the Ile de la Cite.

Francophool,

Thank you.

Hi Agnes -

Re your Thursday Marais walk: I%26#39;m not sure why you want to take the métro to Bastille to begin your Marais walk. When you are at Pont Marie, you are only a very short walk from rue St. Antoine headiing away from the river. If you walk east along rue St. A. a few short blocks you will come to the interesting Palais de Sully. Walk through its courtyard and you will emerge on the Place des Vosges.

The same goes for taking the métro to Rambuteau to go to the Pompidou. Why not walk west along the rue des Francs Bourgeois from the Place des Vosges until you come to rue Pavée. Turn left here, then right on the rue des Rosiers, passing l%26#39;As du Falafel. Continue along the rue Ste. Croix de la Bretonnerie and you will get to the Pompidou in about four blocks.

Taking the métro from Pont Marie to Bastille and from St. Paul to Rambuteau will not save you any time since neither of these transfers is direct. They both involve two lines and a change at Châtelet-Les Halles, and will probably not save you any walking either. The Bastille station can mean seemingly endless walks in subterranean tunnels if you don%26#39;t know exactly where you are going. You will miss the best of the Marais (except for the Place des Vosges) if you cross most of it twice under ground. If you must take the métro to get to the Pompidou, get off at the Hôtel de Ville station and walk the short distance from there.

On Friday, I find both St. Sévérin and St. Étienne du Mont more interesting than St. Sulpice (unless someone is playing the organ at St. Sulpice). Both are in the 5th arrondissement.

Do walk around the wonderful medieval mansion that houses the Cluny museum, even if you don%26#39;t want to visit. It is on the Blvd, St-Michel between the Blvd. St. Germain and the Sorbonne.

Have a wonderful trip and be sure to tell us all about it when you get back!

Thank you, Everybody.

IrishRovr, I will revise our Marais walk - I was hoping to save some time and get some rest from walking, but I guess I did not realize it might be more troublesome than worthwhile.

ANYBODY: A question re: Montmartre

What might be the best way to get from Sacre Coeur to Moulin Rouge (interesting, yet not the longest route)???

Thanks.

Anybody? Any comments about the route from Sacre Coeur to Moulin Rouge [strictly for picture taking purpose:) - it is not my cup of tea]

I think we may make it there between 6-7 pm

Is it going to be safe to walk towards Moulin Rouge in the evening?

Thanks!
