Day trip with teenagers

We will be visiting Paris in late June with our two teenage sons (16 and 14 years old). We would like to take a day trip to see something away from the city. My husband and I have been to Versailles, so we would like to do something else. Chantilly is the only recommendation we have received from friends. Does anyone have any other ideas? I think Normandy would be too hard to do in one day. Also, we want to go on a train. The last time we rented a car in Paris gave us lots of funny stories, but we don%26#39;t have time for all that drama :)

Chantilly is a great suggestion. The chateau has a stunning art collection, the stables are incredible and the forest is a nice place for a hike. Nearby is the medival town of Senlis which you may also have time to visit.

Another options via train could include:

A trip to Vernon, where you rent bikes and ride along the bike trail (off the main road) to Monet%26#39;s home at Giverney.

A similar trip to Auvers sur Oise to see many Van Gogh sights.

A trip to Fountainbleau to visit the town, the chateau, and perhaps even the forest.

Hi.

You could always take the Eurostar to London. It%26#39;s a two hour trip, and tickets midweek for June are currently available from £74 per person.

It%26#39;s possible to have nearly ten hours in london if you leave on the 07.16 and return on the 19.43.

Check it out at:

Hope this helps.

Are your sons interested in history? Or are you looking for something that you think will keep them entertained? There are many, many options. Do any of you have any specific interests? If you can give us a little more information, we might be able to help you narrow it down to something that will work for all of you.

Thank you for your suggestions. I love the sound of Chantilly and the bike ride. We will be in London for five nights prior to our time in Paris. I felt certain that Normandy was too far away for a day trip (my husband and I spent two nights in 2004), but my boys expressed a lot of interest last night in visiting the beaches ect, so they may take a grueling day trip. To the person who asked about their interests--they don%26#39;t have many besides sleeping and %26quot;hanging%26quot; out, so it seems their dad is jumping on the Normandy interest. Again thank you for your help!

If you do decide to stay in town, maybe consider this bizarre attraction the boys might like --- the Catacombs.
