I'm Back! Paris was Magnificent! Thank you!

After waiting 20 years and spending almost 6 months planning, our dream finally came true. My husband and I had a wonderful 20th wedding anniversary celebration in Paris. Paris is such a beautiful city. It doesn%26#39;t matter if there is sun or clouds. Practically every building there is beautiful. I hadn%26#39;t realized that almost all the buildings have the wrought iron railings. And then there are the beautiful bridges and the river. There is so much to see in Paris. Despite spending 8 nights there, we could not see it all. You have to find a balance between seeing the sights and sitting back and soaking in the ambiance that is Paris. The food was great. The people were wonderful. They are very polite. No exchange takes place without %26quot;bonjour, merci and au revoir%26quot;. We met some very sweet people. Maybe their proper ways have given them a bad rap. The good thing about not seeing everything is that we must go back.

Thanks to everyone who helped me in the planning of this trip by posting trip reports and by answering the questions I posted. Thanks to all who encouraged me to extend our stay in Paris by 1 night so that we could go to the ballet and helped me get the tickets (esp. CocoChanel). The ballet was spectacular. Details to follow in my trip report. A special thank you to livetotravel for giving me the website for the apartment rental agency. I knew I wanted to stay on the Ile Saint Louis (historic, residential area with good restaurants) but couldn%26#39;t decide on which hotel. When I saw the picture of our apartment on their website (guestapartment.com), I knew that was it. It was perfect and the pictures didn%26#39;t lie. I can%26#39;t begin to tell you how much we loved our apartment and the people at the rental agency. We could never want for a better place to stay. My new picture is us having a %26quot;picnic%26quot; in our apartment overlooking the Seine.

In the days that follow I will be leaving trip reports and trip tips. Hopefully I will also be able to edit through the over 600 pictures that we took and provide you with a few of those. Hope you enjoy the reports and reading about our wonderful time. There will be a lot of meal details since It%26#39;s All About The Food.

Where was the ballet, and how do I find out if there is one showing when I%26#39;m there? Also, what do you recommend we can skip on a 3.5 day trip and what is a MUST see?

I can%26#39;t wait to read your trip reports also! I am also interested in the apartment that you stayed in. Do you have any more information on that?

Thanks a lot!

To Marleybermuda - The ballet was at the Opera Garnier. Go to operadeparis.fr and look under %26quot;calendrier%26quot; to see their schedule. See Day 8 of my trip reports for more details (hopefully later this week). With only 3 1/2 days in Paris, I would see Paris from the river (by bateaux mouche or batobus), stroll along the river on the Left Bank to see the view of Notre Dame from the southwest, stroll some of the narrow, winding streets, go up the Arc de Triomphe (great view), go to Pont Alexandre III (most beautiful bridge with good view of Eiffel Tower and beautiful Les Invalides), visit Place de la Concorde and the Louvre. Make sure you take time to enjoy a café. Also buy food and have a picnic.

To Hylasgirl - I posted day 1 of my trip report this morning and gave a lot of information about our apartment.

Sorry. I meant to say %26quot;view of Notre Dame from the southeast%26quot;.
