Palais De La Mediterranee in Nice

Thinking of staying here or at Hotel Palais Maeterlinck. Any observations or suggestions%26amp;gt; We will be in Nice for three days and use the hotel for a base to travel from.

am confused with message/heading.

We saw the Palais de la Mediteranée on a travel-channel program. The hotel looked very nice, although I didn%26#39;t like the modernist décor, and the pool is fabulous.

Palais Maeterlinck is, I think, on the eastern side of Nice, between that city and Villefranche-sur-Mer. It%26#39;s quite beautiful from the outside, which is all we%26#39;ve seen, but is one of the true luxury hotels in the area.

Palais Maetterlink is located for beautiful sea views, a fiercely expensive dining menu if that matters, and some way out of the city - not a casual walk - in the direction Cap de Nice, main road N98 heading for Villefranche.

You will find transport more than a little inconvenient if you propose to travel and sightsee rather than just stay in the hotel, though no doubt they would arrange taxis. On that basis I would put practicalities first and opt for your other choice, which pitches you straight into the action along the Promenade and central areas.
