What is the difference between first class and regular fare? Is it worth the extra money? Thanks

You can check the TGV fares from Paris to Dijon.....but the trip is only 1:45 from Paris and for a trip of that brief a duration, and the fare difference (40€ advance purchase PREMs, Off-Peak, 2nd Class vs. 70 € PREMs, Off Peak 1st Class) 2nd Class is perfectly comfortable.

In terms of comfort the difference is not unlike an average economy class and an average business class seat on a plane.
I think KDKSAIL may have been quoting the PREMs (discounted non-refundable advance purchase) fares for two people, or possibly round-trip. If you book far enough ahead, as close as you can to the maximum of 90 days, you can travel second class for 20€, first class for 35€, one way.

As KD stressed it, it%26#39;s a short ride. I only use first class on big vacation departures, to avoid families and the charcuterie picnics 50 cm from my nose. But Dijon is no popular holiday destination (except maybe for the trains that go on to Switzerland).

Thank you very much for your comments. I booked the 2nd class voyage using the guidelines posted by MorganB! I printed the tickets-very easy to do. Round trip was only 80 Euro for two people. We are going to Dijon for a Burgundy Canal Cruise-can%26#39;t wait.

Hi, I can see you managed very well with your train tickets (Prems with no doubt)
Where are you starting the cruise from, Dijon port? Don%26#39;t forget to go for a walk in the town center before you leave! (10mins walk from the port)
Welcome to Burgundy and have a great trip!
:-)
