Parking and World Cup in Paris

HI there,

I will be going to Paris for a single night on 15th June and staying near the Eiffel tower and l%26#39;ecole militaire. I was wondering if anyone may be able to advise me on where the best place to leave the car is as there is no parking available at the hotel..... Anywhere in the general area withing a short work would be great!

Also could anyone advise me on any French TV channels likely to broadcast the England vs Trinidad game on this evening? If not where would be a good place to watch it bar/cafe wise?

Many thanks to anyone who can help me, I have searched the internet for ages trying to find out the information, but nowhere seems to have anything about it!

I suggest parking at the airport and then taking a shuttle bus (Air France/Roissy Bus) for about 8 Euros to downtown Paris.

Goodluck!!!

This site should help with the parking issue. Assuming you know the closest métro station to your hotel, you will be able to find the closest parking garage to that métro station. If not search for parking in 75007 and narrow the search down from there using a street map or mappy.com or pagesjaunes.fr

http://www.infoparking.com/parking/public/

The site does not list prices, but expect to pay around 25€ for 24 hours parking.

Don%26#39;t know how good your French is, but just in case, a %26quot;Voiture au G.P.L.%26quot; is a vehicle running on LPG (rather obviously).

Any more questions, just ask.

Can%26#39;t give you any definite answers to help with the footie question but O%26#39;Briens on rue St Dominique in the 7th might carry the broadcast. Others will probably have a better line on that.

Hi,

Can%26#39;t help with the parking, but the football will be shown on several bars along Rue St Andre des Arts, certainly at the Oz bar and most probably at the Irish Bar located towards Boulevard St Michel (if you can take the good natured banter!). Also La Taverne de Cluny, at the top of Rue de la Harpe has shown British football via Eurosport.

Best wishes

The following link may help - it quotes prices for each car park too.

http://www.vincipark.com.

If you haven%26#39;t driven in Paris before, I would strongly advise parking just outside the city and taking the metro or RER to your hotel. Depending on which direction will you be coming from you could select something perhaps in departements 93, 95 or 78. Click on the blue P from the home page then En Ile de France which brings up a map of the outskirts: click on a departement for loads more info.

Good luck.

Many thanks so far for the advice! It has been very helpful, hope to help people myself as much as you all have!
