Trip Report--Great new experiences

We were in Nice with 2 preteens so wanted an apartment near the Med. We stayed in Citea Nice Magnan. See review. Since it had a kitchen, girls wanted to cook breakfast and dinner, so we had the experience of grocery shopping. They loved it and it saved us lots of money. We had a wrap around balcony and we ate out there for dinner even though it was cool. We walked everywhere. Hit the promenade and walked all the way to the Old Port where we met up with a friend for socca, deep fried zucchini flowers (stuffed) and stuffed vegetables--great lunch. She had to go back to school, but showed us where to catch the train for Monaco, so we went there for the afternoon because we wanted to see the Oceanographique Museum. Ten minute ride and we were there. We have a wonderful aquarium in Oregon, but this one matched that and had some very different displays, so we were glad we went. We love Monaco, don%26#39;t know why it doesn%26#39;t get better reviews. It%26#39;s expensive to stay there, but just stay in Nice and visit. After the museum, gardens, and palace we returned by train (nicest train station anywhere) to Nice. Walked to the beach from the station. It%26#39;s not too far without luggage, so they could put their feet in. By then it was too late and we were too tired to shop and cook, so we ate out at the corner restaurant catty corner from our hotel. Wonderful food. The nearby bakery is great for croissants. Would definitely stay in Nice again. Clean, comfortable, easy to get to anywhere in the South of France. We also went to Cannes from here.

Great post. We, too, enjoyed the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco. People watching in Monte Carlo is very entertaining. Tell us more about your Cannes trip.

Cannes was very short. We were meeting our former foreign exchange student who now lives there. We went by train, dropped off luggage in her grandparents apartment and walked into town to see the Film Festival set up, wade in the ocean, and have a great pizza lunch. Her husband is a chef, so he sent us to his favorite place for pizza. He likes it cooked in the hot brick ovens. It was crowded because of the festival, but still beautiful. Since she knew her way around, we were walking so fast I could probably never find my way again. Then we were off to her parent%26#39;s home in Anduze--a wonderful stay with the family and a visit to the Bambousserie (spelling?) and Orange to see one of only 3 Roman theatres still standing--very interesting. I have to say we really love France.
