Any Recommendations for a great budget B&B or hotel in Paris

We%26#39;re there just 3 nights in mid June. Thanks to the two nice people who answered my request for info about public transport vs rental car.

I am thinking about doing one of those cheaper internet (no refund) room reservations about 5 mi outside Paris. About 55 Euros a night. It%26#39;s modern and we are as happy with quaint and historic as long as it is clean and safe.

Anyone have a recommendation for a %26quot;find%26quot; closer in Paris, esp near a train station or subway station or the tourist attractions.

I know it would probably be a miracle to find something in high season, but maybe worth asking. Thanks very much!

Share what good guide books like Sandra Gustafson%26#39;s Great Sleeps in Paris say are clean hall bathrooms and stay at the Hotel Port Royal on the edge of the 5th near both rue Monge and rue Mouffetard for 48 Euros a double

Mt recommendation (and regulars will know this is a repeat!) is Le Laumiere. It%26#39;s in the (unreasonably, in my opinion) unfashinable 19th, in a rather pleasant leafy square. The price is from 55 - 65Euros a double, but its clean, 20 minutes from the subway, and friendly

I happened upon a VERY simple hotel in the 7th arrondissement. The Hotel Montebello is by no means fancy! No elevator. No robes in the bathrooms. Not even telephones in the rooms.

However, at 39 Euros for one person, and 49 Euros for two people, who can complain? In addition, the owner and his son are super nice and speak English.

Located only a 5 minute walk from Bon Marche:

18, Pierre Leroux - 75007

Tel: 331 47 34 41 18

Fax: 331 47 34 46 71

Email: hmontebello@aol.com

The hotel is located between the Eiffel Tower and Montparnasse.

Remember - simple clean and cheap in a GREAT

...rates have probably gone up.

I can recommend the Hotel Mistral at 24 Rue Cels in the 14th arr. It%26#39;s in your price range, if you don%26#39;t need ensuite bathrooms. The hotel website is at www.hotel-mistral-paris.com . You can also find my Tripadvisor review through the keywords %26quot;hotel mistral paris%26quot;.

As mentioned elsewhere in the forum, there are two (unrelated) Hotel Mistrals. I%26#39;m not familiar with the one at 3, Rue de Chaligny, but notice that it%26#39;s slightly cheaper than the Rue Cels one.

Hi C Nolan, if you are interested in Underhill%26#39;s suggestion of Pension Ladagnous, please note that it has changed its name twice since then and its contact details are:

For an idea about what it is like, check this website that has photos under its last but one name %26quot;Bon Accueil Ladagnous%26quot;

As for the Hotel Montebello, please call the hotel on its telephone No and do not try to find any link that refers to bonjourparis website%26#39;s %26quot;review%26quot; as a friend and I both tried to check it out through google last time it was mentioned about a week ago and got viruses on our computers when we clicked on the links.

Hotel Argenson- well within your budget I think- a tiny hotel in a nice area that is family run- first time we stayed the daughter who now runs it was just a kid! They have no breakfast room ,but the free breakfast is brought to your room at the time you specify and we liked that better as it was so private and we could take our time. Right near a Metro stop and we could even walk to the Champs!
