Any preferences for which Champagne house to visit?

Your options may be limited by the day(s) you are in Reims. Keep in mind that some houses are by appointment only. The tours at Taittinger and Mumm are very good and the Pommery cellars quite beautiful. Ruinart and Veuve Clicquot are by appt. only, but if you like these styles, they provide great tasting opportunities. If you get to Epernay, I highly recommend a tour of Perrier-Jouet.

I have had a great tour of Moet et Chandon%26#39;s in Epernay. Dom Perignon, the works. I would recommend it.

I also did the Moet et Chandon and enjoyed it. But as posted previously please check in advance the times for tours. Some are appointment only and some have only one tour per day.

Essentially, you will want to visit the websites to confirm the day and hours the champagne houses are open and to make reservations. I%26#39;m not sure when you%26#39;ll be in the region but we%26#39;re going mid-July and had no problems making reservations on-line at Veuve Clicquot and Pommery.
Most of the houses close for a couple of hours in the afternoon for lunch, so we made one appointment late morning, then right after the lunch hour at 2:00 PM. The tour at Veuve Clicquot is an hour and a half, so make sure to ask them how long each tour will be before scheduling the next visit.
Prices are about 7.5 Euros and increase depending upon the vintage of the champagne you%26#39;re tasting.

Piper Heidsieck has a nice tour, especially if one wishes to avoid climbing stairs. You ride around the caves in a self propelled vehicle with taped comentary.

We plan to visit Piper Heidsieck as well. Luckily, you don%26#39;t have to make reservations either. I think the automated train tour is like 20 minutes, so I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s as indepth as the champagne houses where reservations are required.
