Hair Cut - English speaking?

I%26#39;m in Paris now. Would like to get my hair cut but would feel more comfortable if the stylist/or someone at the salon could speak good English.

I%26#39;ve done a search on this site. Can%26#39;t seem to find any posts that answers the good cut with English question.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Last year we did an apartment exchange with a family in SF and I gave the woman the address of my favorite salon. I don%26#39;t know if the staff speaks English, or not, but she didn%26#39;t speak French, went anyway and said that it was one of her favorite cuts ever.

Jean Marc Maniatis is the salon. I go to the one on the rue de Sevres in the 7th.

When I%26#39;m in Paris I go to Printemps, the department store. In the salon, I check out all the haircuts on the hairdressers, when I find the best one, I ask who cut it. Then I make an appointment with that operator. There are always enough English speakers to make it work. And I%26#39;ve never had to wait for more than about 40 minutes.

Phread - How much does a haircut cost at your favorite salon?

|||

Shoesy, I think that it is 90E.

Just a wee warning - a lot of my colleagues* (inc. English, Scottish, Canadian and American) have said that altho%26#39; they look great when they leave the salon it is because the hair is %26quot;styled%26quot; so well whereas the quality of the cut itself isn%26#39;t so good.

Prices should be displayed in the window. %26quot;brushing%26quot; is a blow-dry. Be aware that the price of products such as conditionner or spary may be added on and that if you have %26quot;long hair%26quot; they add a few euros to the price.

* I can%26#39;t give details of where they have been, they live in various parts of the city and some of them have been in Paris 15 years or more so I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;ve shopped around.

Thank you, Phread. Wow! That%26#39;s expensive compared to what I%26#39;m used to paying. I believe I pay about the equivalent of $30.

|||

Phread,

Are you sure about the price ? It seems expensive. OK I have short hair but I never pay more than 40 euros. I would pay 80-90 if I have a color done.

Maybe that%26#39;s a fancy schmancy well-known salon. I go to my local hairdresser. Oh well, I guess having my hair cut is just one more thing that I am NOT going to do in Paris.

|||

Most I%26#39;ve paid is €42 and I pay %26#39;long hair%26#39; prices. Cheapest was €15 and to all intents and purposes once I%26#39;d washed it myself you wouldn%26#39;t have been able to tell the difference.

Not sure, but I do know that it is expensive. I have longish hair and only get it cut twice a year, hence my ambivalnece about the price.
