Futurescope or Puy du Fou?

I%26#39;m looking for a family %26quot;big ticket treat day%26quot; to include in our June 2007 trip to France (2 boys, aged 7 and 10). The itinerary is still evolving, so a place worth working in could be worked in!

My research so far seems to suggest that Futurescope and Puy du Fou are two well recieved and unique destinations.

Any thoughts on if you could include only one which one you would include?

Have I missed something better from my choices?

Thanks very much!

Personally I like the Puy du Fou daytime %26quot;Grand Parc%26quot;, but a lot depends on the character of your boys. If they are techno-freaks, they might prefer Futuroscope as I think there%26#39;s now some hands-on gaming. Plenty of different types of cinemas (3D, IMAX, 360-degree, one with picture on floor as well as screen, etc. Haven%26#39;t been there for a few years, so can%26#39;t comment on it. I do recall plenty of long queues - and we were there in April.

Puy du Fou is a very good family day out. But you must arrive as the gates open otherwise you%26#39;ll never see it all. In fact there may by now be too much to physically see in a day. It%26#39;s classified as a %26quot;historical theme park%26quot;, but no rides or anything here. It%26#39;s recreations of villages from different periods - but really excellent, with plenty going on in the way of actors, craftspeople, animals etc.

And there are fabulous set-piece shows: the falconry is truly breath-taking (and I can take or leave that sort of thing as a rule), there%26#39;s breath-taking chariot-racing, two incredible battles (one with Vikings, and one with English v French in 100 Years War). You pick up a schedule when you arrive on the day, and work out what to see when - but arrive at the shows about 30 mins before time or you probably won%26#39;t get in. Actually, June you%26#39;ll probably be OK on that. http://www.puydufou.com/uk/

There%26#39;s an amazing night-time show there too (the Cinescenie), but I think it%26#39;s too much to do in a single day as it doesn%26#39;t start till 10pm or later (till it%26#39;s dark). It tells the history of the Vendee; all in French, but you can rent English-language headsets.

Hope this is useful
