Would someone please update us on the status of the rooftop cafe at the Samaritaine? The whole building for that matter. We used to always lunch and relax up there and loved it. The entire store was closed for structural problems and we have not heard anything for quite a long time.
Thanks so much,
Patricia and David

As far as I know, the store is still closed. I think I read that some conglomerate or other was going to buy it, do the necessary renovations, and re-open it, but I don%26#39;t know the details. At any rate, I imagine it will be a long before the store re-opens.

Yes, la Samaritaine is closed.

As noted, the main La Samaritaine building remains closed and to date there has been no news of any re-openning--or re-development. It would be surprising if it ever re-openned as a large department store.
One of the most prevalent rumors that I%26#39;ve heard is that somewhere down the road, the building may be gutted and renovated as a 4-star deluxe hotel....with LVMH-branded shops forming ground floor retail space and a roof-top restaurant---with views second only to the Eiffel Tower---and even then, a restaurant atop La Samaritaine would offer the one element that defines the skyine of Paris...and can%26#39;t be seen from the Eiffel Tower....except in %26#39;..silhouette..%26#39;, on a sunny day.

You can cross it off your list for the next 10 years.
