Planning a 14 day trip ahead for gathering as much info as possible, but need your expert advise on how to go about it.
Question: A tour company or going on own. The months may be May or June of 2007. Is this a good time to go ?
What city is cheaper to fly into.?
Best way to get to and coming out of for flights back home .( USA NYC )
Budget of 3 - 4M for two. Would this be enough for covering air flights, hotels, food, sightseeing and commuting to London.
Looking for centrally located hotesl near transportation with A/C if needed and includes breakfast.
All of your advise will be helpful.
Thanks to all

First response is, don%26#39;t book a tour. You can easliy do these to cities on your own.
Sometimes there are good( price wise) packages( air/hotel) available, but, the hotels tend to always be out of the city centres , in less convienient locations.
We found it cheapest to fly in and out of London, and take the Eurostar over to Paris. I booked the Eurostar myself online, something I had never done before, and found it easy, hassle free and cheaper then what a travel agent had quoted me. Book 90 days in advance, book mid week, stay over Sat. and mid day, and you will pay ALOT less then regular. Our tickets were 90 euros each, and that is city centre to city centre, 6 euro taxi ride to hotel. We picked up the tickets in London at the station.
In London I stayed with friends, so no help there( although I do recommend you do the Tower of London, a side trip to Bath and the Portrait Gallery interested me greatly)
This site has many good hotels reviewed. And just reading these boards will really help you form some ideas of exactly which area you want to stay in , and which hotels may fit the bill.
We enjoyed the Hotel Brighton, close to Lourve and yes AC and great breakfast( not exactly a full english one, but a full french one, LOL) . I also stayed in a less exspensive one ( Hotel Des Mines) which we thought was great value. More convenient location for us, fbut rooms were smaller.
Read these boards alot and you will get tons of very useful info which will make your trip great!

sorry i dont quite understand wot u said ur budget was...3-4m?! commuting into london from the airport is generally not a problem, all airports hethrow, standsted, gatwick have either bus or train services into central london, for around £25 return at the most, (although prices may have gone up a little since i visited last summer). sightseeing in london as in paris is rather expensive, enterance to museums and other attractions coud eat into your budget quite quickly i would consider searching the internet for any discount cards or vouchers you can find before hand. not sure of your age but if you are 26 or under you can get an international young persons travel card that will allow for discounts and save you a few bob.
there are sooo many hotels in london and in paris and it all depends on where you want to be and what you want to be close to, and also what your budget is.
im not too sure what would be the best option for flying to and from london/paris i would definately advise looking around for the best deals. Check www.ba.com and airfrance, booking in advance you generally get good deals. i would also consider how much time you want to spend in each city, and what it is you wnat to do as that could affect where you decide to be based for the majority of your holiday.
after visiting both paris and london a number of times, i would say they are very different cities. I found that london was good for a short visit, maybe 4/5 nights but, because of the hussle and bussle, would not be somewhere i could imagine spending much longer holidaying in. however i found paris much easier to adjust to. the pace was slower than at home (i live in the centre of a city in the north of england) and i felt like it was more of a holiday because of the sower pace, possibly a good idea to go to paris after london, a break from the big smoke!
hopefully my ramblings have been of some help to you! and any more help i can offer just let me know. also if you could explain wot u meant by your budget (am i just being stupid here?!) maybe i could help a little more with the hotel ideas etc.
good luck! xx

We were in London/Paris the last week of April and first week of May (respectively) and found the weather just right... some cool mornings and warm days, but overall just right for walking and sightseeing. Much warmer would have been too warm for all the walking we did. We stayed in each for 7 nights. We had a hotel in London (Thistle Bloomsbury Park) which was quite adequate for our needs, with good price (64GBP through Orbitz) and a great location. We then rented an apartment in Paris right in the middle of things - in the Latin Qtr. on St. Severin. We thought that was great!
The cheapest flights we could find were through Orbitz. We flew into Dublin (the first week was in Ireland) and then out of Paris. We took the Eurostar from London to Paris.
All in all, we had a great trip. You are planning far enough ahead to find the best deals, so good luck!
