We arrived in Paris yesterday, dutifully purchased our carte l%26#39;orange at a metro station last night, and were not asked to produce a picture; just as well as we forgot our pics at home!
We are staying on the rue de Tournon, and our closest metro stop is Odeon. Where can we get a photo, there was no booth that we could see? Thanks

Your carte orange simply isn%26#39;t valid without the accompanying ID card with photo. If you get checked, you can get a fine (and they will probably also take your carte orange coupon). Don%26#39;t count on them being lenient because you%26#39;re a tourist.
Just find a photo shop and ask for passport pics, or a photo booth (in larger metro stations, train stations, supermarkets). B/W or color is not important, cut the picture to a size of 2.5 x 3 cm.

FInd a place that does copies and have your passport photo copied.
Post offices have copying machines for instance.
Photo Service does instant ID photos.

Hi
That is strange. When my wife and I bought the carte orange we were asked for photos and we were prepared so we handed them over and got the cards.

What exactly is the Carte l%26#39;Orange? Is it a multiple trip metro pass? If not, what is the best way to go regarding the metro? I%26#39;ll be staying in Paris for a week and am confused by the many different metro choices.

Hi
Yes, it is a weekly pass that is valid from Monday to Sunday. I think I paid about 15 € for it and then you can take the metro as much as you want within zone 1 %26amp; 2 :-)

Most larger Metro stations have a photo booth next to the machine that sells the %26quot;Carte Orange%26quot;%26#39;s
The cost was 1 or 2 euros.

It%26#39;s rare for the attendant to ask for your picture when you purchase your Carte Orange, but woe to him that gets stopped by the Metro flics without the appropriate documentation. I believe the fine is now 50 euros (payable immediately, cash only). When we were last in Paris, we were saw dragnets at least a dozen times and were stopped ourselves once (everything in order with our Navigo passes, of course, so no problems)

mackbach - there is an FNAC store about 2 blocks west of the Odéon metro on Bld. St Germain (if you get to Bld St Michel you%26#39;ve gone too far) that has photo processing. I believe they are able to do a passport type photo.

It may be no more difficult than asking your hotel if they%26#39;ll make a photcopy of your passport ID photo on their office machine.. ANY type of %26#39;head-shot%26#39; photo will do...even a B%26amp; W photo-copy.

Basically, you do not need a photo to BUY a carte orange coupon - you need it to USE it legally. Ticket vendors usually assume that you%26#39;ve already got the %26#39;carte nominative%26#39; with photo (which is valid indefinitely). Anyway, lots of coupons are sold by ticket machines.
