restaurant reservations

I%26#39;ve been reading in a lot of places that if you want to eat at any decent restaurant in Paris, you need to make a reservation. I%26#39;m trying to keep our itinerary fairly flexible, so I don%26#39;t really want to be committed to going to a particular restaurant and having a reservation. Will we have a problem in most places if we%26#39;re out somewhere exploring, and then just try and get a table at whatever place happens to look appealing to us? We%26#39;re not the haute cuisine type and would be looking to eat at more casual, low key type of places.

no you wont in casual places, it depends also what time you eat and if its a touristy place, but in most little restaurants there is no need for reservation, unless you really want to go to a particular restaurant it%26#39;s ok.

It will be easier if you arrive between 7:30-8:00 pm to get a table... and don%26#39;t assume because there are empty tables that you can be seated b/c those might be reserved already.

Yes - part of my %26quot;strategy%26quot; would be to arrive on the early side (before 8:00) as I thought that would increase our chances of getting a table. One night during our week stay, I think I will try to reserve in advance and have dinner at a nicer place. We%26#39;re staying on the same street as all of Christian Constant%26#39;s restaurants and I think it would be a shame to not eat at any of them.
