Does anybody have experience of using so-called %26quot;TT%26quot;%26quot; car rentals in France? If I understand correctly, these are untaxed cars which can be rented by non-residents only. They seem to be a good deal for longer rentals, we are looking for a 2 month rental this summer and it seems to be about 25% less than the best rate I can get elsewhere. I found this company on the web, guess there are others.

Any feedback greatly appreciated
Many thanks

here are the official websites from the car manufactures:

I did it with Renault one time. I was very happy with it. I needed a Renault Grand Espace (longer) which was not available from classic rental agencies. Here are the advantages:
Unlimited Milage
Factory fresh vehicule
full insurance
choice of entire line of cars from manufacteur
much cheaper for longer rentals, even more so if you are going to do lots of driving.
Some restrictions:
Read the contract carefully to make sure the people driving the car are insured. You cant just let anyone drive it.
If the car breaks down you call and they pick it up and take it to the closest dealership for repair. I suppose the dealership would give a loaner car but I think you would need to stay nearby untill the car is repaired. Be sure to read the contract fully about this. My car worked fine so no repairs were needed.
Limited pick up and drop off locations when compared with classic rental.

I%26#39;ve done this a few times but not very recently. It%26#39;s a great way to go provided you pay attention to all the things MorganB mentions.
The other thing is that you may be responsible for the car%26#39;s first service/oil change if the maintenance schedule calls for this while you have the car in your posession.
