I don't recommend G7's English-speaking taxi service

Many, many thanks to the kind TA contributor who recommend G7 as a taxi service I could book in advance with an English-speaking operator, but I actually didn%26#39;t have a great experience with them. The guy I spoke with couldn%26#39;t have been more polite, but:

1) He got my destination wrong, which meant that we barely had time to fly across town to Montparnasse station

2) There%26#39;s a charge for the reservation: 5E or $6.39 USD.

3) They overcharge dreadfully for their service: fare to Montparnasse from 3e was 26E (as the operator had predicted). B when we caught a cab back the other way by just using a standard taxi queue, it was 12E, which tells me that we got taken for a merry little ride.

4) In retrospect, I simply could have had one of the very nice front desk people at my hotel make the advance reservation for me in French -- and at no charge.

For those who would still like to try G7%26#39;s English speaker service, here is the number: 01 41 27 66 99. You can book them 24 hrs in advance.

Actually when you call a cab in Paris you pay for the trip TO you as well as the trip that you take. Odds are there was a nice little chunck on the meter before you had even sat down in the cab. I prefer to ask the hotel to get a cab for me if there isnt one out front or I go to the stand.
