Hi All
Me and my partner are planning on taking a 4 day break in Cannes in August, but searching through the web, I notice that there is a public holiday on the 15th August. I dont want to spend 4 days there to find that for 1 day every thing is shut, but this is the only time I can have holiday off and if I go later in the week and return on Saturday, everything gets very expensive!
Does anyone have any knowledge of this?
Thanks!

Yes it is a public holiday and I%26#39;m not sure about Cannes but further West it is also their Liberation Day holiday. That means that some food shops and supermarkets might close at lunch time. They will give warning by signs in the shop. Restaurants, beach bars etc will be open - this is high season. No need to panic.

August 15th is Assumption - a catholic country - its a national public holiday.
Apart from that its mid August and very crowded, so I noticed a lot of the smaller shops not directly related to tourism tend to %26quot;ferme pour les conges annuel%26quot; ie to get away from you guys!
That aside everything works much as on a sunday for the day.
