Hi all,
I am flying to Beauvais airport in a couple months time and will get the shuttle bus to Porte Malliot. I am looking for a nice 3 star hotel in the Porte Malliot are that is convienant to the following:
Eiffel Tower
Shopping Centre or Shopping Area - I have heard of the Galeries Lafayette shopping center but any other shopping center would be great to be nearby
I also plan in visiting the Paris Motorshow at the Paris Expo Place de la Porte de Versailles F-75015 - PARIS so need to take this into account when deciding the hotel location.
Any suggestions regarding hotels would be great and very much aprreciated.

All of the points of interest you describe (though I doubt if Porte de Maillot is a point of interest, or just the place your bus happens to arrive at) are in the western part of Paris.
Basically, I would suggest you to find a hotel in one of the arrondissements 6, 7, 8, 14, 15, or 16 - just look at the last digits of the postal code of the hotels (75014 means 14th arrondissement). There are lots of three star hotels in that area. Your choice also depends on your budget - do you consider 140 euro per night low budget, or expensive?
And if the price is important, you might even decide to stay in the eastern part of town - after all, a metro trip costs 1 ticket (1.40 or 1.07 euro) - whether it is a long trip of half an hour from one end of town to the other, or just a 2 minute trip...
Wherever you decide to stay, you probably still will have to use the metro, so prepare yourself - read the posts on this forum about the metro, and go to the Paris Transport Authority website for more info: www.ratp.fr
By the way, Galeries Lafayette is a department store - not really a shopping centre. But in a way you%26#39;re right - together with the several branches of their competitor Au Printemps, it is more of a shopping area.

Do you consider 140 euro per night low budget, or expensive? - Probably consider this about the amount I%26#39;d like to spend.
Based on the places I want to see, what area would you recomend I stay in?
Thanks for your help, guidance is really needed!
