We are in the planning stages and thinking about taking a 1 day side trip to Giverny. I am just wondering how much time we should expect to tour Monet%26#39;s home and gardens? We will be traveling in July. Also, on the Giverny web site it says you can take a taxi or walk to Monet%26#39;s home...is walking really a good suggestion? How far is it from the rail station?

I will be travelling to Paris also in July and we are planning a day trip to Giverny with a bicycle tour group.
We aren%26#39;t tour group types but this one sounds like a lot of fun - and it will give us an opportunity to meet other people who will be enjoying Paris also.

It is a pretty long walk from the train station, but an easy bus ride. There is a bus just outside the station that will take you to the gardens. We went and rented bikes on our own. It was a great trip. We were lucky enough to arrive on a local market day and picniced along the Seine.

Ozbod! Thanks so much for the tour information......the bike tour to Monet%26#39;s home and gardens looks like the perfect tour! We will be booking it soon. We will be looking to do it July 12th or 13th.....maybe we will see you there!
Thanks Again!

We were in Paris in April and took a day trip with the tour company ParisVisions to Giverney and Versailles. It was approx. a 10 hour trip, starting with a comfortable coach ride to Giverney in the morning, a visit to Monet%26#39;s home and gardens (plenty of time to see everything), then on to Versailles for a pre-arranged group lunch in a very good restaurant, before visiting Versailles. Given the size of the palace and grounds, it was a %26quot;highlights%26quot; tour, but our tour guide took us through the palace, giving us much information and history that we would not have gotten if we visited without the benefit of our guide. In short, if your time is limited we found that this was a very good alternative to doing it on our own. By the way, Giverney was definitely worth visiting. And the ParisVisions guide was very knowledgeable and professional. She was with us all day.
