Deauville, Trouville or Honfleur

If we are looking for a 2 day one night get away from Paris where we can relax in a centrally located hotel, relax on the beach and enjoy the town would you recommed a hotel in Deauville, Trouville or Honfleur? I know they are all close but the books say that Trouville is quaint whereas Deauville is glitzy . . .What does this mean? Is Deauville too glitzy or does it have elements of low key relaxation.

Thanks for any help!

Honfleur is a quaint fishing village with a small port and lots of art galleries. Its very charming and the architecture is very interesting but there is no beach. I have spent a night here many times and enjoyed it.

Deauville: Think high end brands, luxury hotels, equestrian activities etc. There are beaches here which are nice. Its really a beautiful town, very clean with interesting architecture. I prefer it to its poorer Trouville cousin, although Trouville is fine also.

All 3 are very close together and I think the drive from Honfleur to Deauville on the coast is very pretty.

Deauville has been very glitzy before mass travel.

Now, it is mostly a week end destination for Parisians and still a summer destination for families who own property and go there with kids. The beaches are great and %26quot;les planches%26quot; (boardwalk) very famous. It is also known for the film festival, horse races, casinos and some grand hotels. But this is a small % of what is going on in Deauville.

Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville make for a great destination if you want a break from Paris for a short while.

BTW it is more relaxing to go there October 1 to June 1 than during the summer months that can be busy.

For beach I would go to Deauville, for a beautiful seaside town I would go to Honfleur.

Another vote for Honfleur -- it%26#39;s lovely to just wander...

You might also consider Cabourg -- it%26#39;s a pleasant combination of resort town and small town...

Deauville is very busy and I didn%26#39;t find it to have anywhere near the charm or warmth of Honfleur or Cabourg.
