Beaches in Juan les Pins

What are the beaches like? We are stopping at the at the Best Western Astoria (no pool) and wondered if we had to pay to go on to the beach.

We are staying for 7 nights, and would be grateful for advice on what to see and do.

Thanks

Oops, forgot to say we were going there middle of next month!!!

Juan-les-Pins has back-to-back private beaches, most of which include sun-loungers, waiter service and restaurants.

I%26#39;ve only used one of these beaches on one occasion. We walked in and used the facilities for the afternoon, and then ate an excellent dinner at the water%26#39;s edge. We were not charged other than for the meal - whether that%26#39;s the usual policy I%26#39;m not sure, but doing it again, I would definitely choose a beach on the basis of menu, and make it clear that I intend to dine later!

So I%26#39;d say, be prepared to pay or dine, and enjoy!

You should definitely visit Antibes, Cannes and Nice.

Juan Les Pins has a long line of beaches... at one end (East) there is the Meridien with its beach then a string of beach restaurants where you pay for sun loungers / umbrella and obviously whatever you choose to consume there. This does not mean you cannot walk on the beach itself or swim there. The immediate border of the water is always open to the public, and you can walk along the whole beach(es) since they are no fences. At the other end of Juan Les Pins beach (West) there is a wider stretch of sand where there are no restaurants or rent of umbrellas....so people are free to do whatever they want in the whole area... which has public showers for use. It is a half hour walk end to end for the string of beaches.

There are more beaches to the west in the direction of Cannes (which is 10 minutes away by car), these are a bit too far for walking . Obviously, if you are staying for a whole week you will have the chance to visit and use the beaches of other nearby places as well, such as Cannes and if you venture by local train to the east to Villefranche.

Can you recommend anywhere to eat in Juan les Pins? We are room only there on Sunday for a week, and wouldn%26#39;t mind some good recommendations, especially for breakfast!!

|||

if you want a simple meal not expensive there is Vesuvius piza Italian rest. If you want something more upmarket there is Le Jette which is on the beach front and good food

We came back last week from Juan les Pins, and would recommend eating out in Antibes (3 minute train journey approx 3 euros) as a 3 course meal cost from approx 13 euros. All the meals we had were good value. Le Marmite is one to be recommended, very good meal there. Beer was expensive, approx 6 euros for a pint, but the wine was reasonable with the meals, between 9 and 13 euros. There are some bars close together near the harbour, and do a %26#39;happy hour%26#39; between 7-8pm where the drinks are virtually half price!

From Juan les Pins to Antibes is approx a 20-25 minute walk.

Hi Pinchy, where did you stay in juan le pins and where do you reccomend? we are booked into the merdian but are a little freaked out at all of the negative reviews in here. Our goal is close to sandy beach and near town/restaruants but we are not locked into this hotel (or actually juan le pins for that matter) we could stay in cannes or anitbges if they ahve sandy beaches as well. Thanks.

hi there

stayed at juan les pins during gp weekend in the ambassadeur , was nice .the meridien is just beside the casino and close to all the bars restaurants and nightlife.

the beaches are relatively small and mostly occupied by loungers and restaurants belonging to establishments.

eating is about 30 euros per peson at night ,drinks expect to pay 6 euros for a beer and 8 euros for any spirit , food is so-so for this price.

take into account that in france u pay for everything in hotels , loungers , chairs on the beach etc etc not like other resorts .

u pay for being in a chic area and not for top notch facilities.

dont expect a great hotel , most hotels in this area seem to be overclassed , therefore if u have booked 4 star then its more like a 3 star.

definately visit cannes and if u can stay there , there is more life , better beaches , better restaurants and more to do , although it is more built up.

if u want peace and quiet and beautiful beaches try villefrance sur mer and beaulieu.

juan les pins is a 3 star resort no more than that.

anyway you choose i am sure that you will have a great time.

by the way , forget about eating out at 13 euros per person , that must have been 2005 prices

regards
