Hi all!
I%26#39;ll go to Paris next September to attend a congress in Palais du Congress. Can you help me choosing a decent hotel (3 stars or a cheap 4stars) preferentially at a walking distance or close to a Metro station with direct access to the congress center?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Sergio
I would not want to stay right at Porte Maillot where the Palais du Congress is located. The Hotel Keppler is only a two star but is 20 minutes walk from Porte Maillot or you can take the metro from the Champs Elysees to Porte Maillot

or for a similar 20 minutes walk but more difficult by metro, the more up market and more expensive hotel Kleber

Any address on or near line 1 will take you directly in the Palais des Congres.
Right at Porte Maillot are Concorde Lafayette and le Meridien.
If you are going to be busy all day and evenings with group dinners, I would recommend you stay there. Otherwise, the rest of Paris (near line 1) is a better experience.
Also, Place des Ternes is not very far and has more of a neighborhood atmosphere. You could walk to the Palais des Congres from there (using side streets, not Avenue de la Grande Armee).

There are 3 or 4 hotels located rue des Acacias, which is right next to Porte Maillot (about 5 minutes walk) : among them Hotel Acacias Etoile and Hotel Fertel Etoile are very nice places, especially Fertel.

Thank you for the advices. Unfortunatelly all the hotelsthat you listed are fully booked for the time I%26#39;ll be in Paris.
I%26#39;ve searched for an hotel near metro line 1 and found this one: Hotel Pavillon Montaigne - 34, rue Jean Mermoz
Do you know it? is it on a good location?
Thank you
Sérgio

Hi Sergio,
The Tripadvisor reviews (three) are all good, which is a nice start. Sounds like the rooms are small but the hotel comfortable and friendly staff. The rooms look clean and attractive, One of the booking sites says it has wifi but not sure if that is in all rooms but I assume it is as the reception looks tiny.

The area is fine - a few steps to the Champs Elysees and Metro Franklin Rooseveldt and even fewer steps to the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore. According to the pedestrian itinerary on www8.mappy.com you can walk to or from there via the Arche de Triomphe in about 30 minutes.

You may try also:
Le Meridien Etoile just opposite the Palais De Congres.
LE Pergolese Best Western, a 10min walk.
Hotel Montfleuri, a 10min walk also.
and Villa Maillot, www.ghotw.com
