Hi All,
We are heading to Paris for 5 days at the end of June. Any reccomendations on the central city hotels that are kid friendly. We have two aged 8 and 5. Thanks so much.

Genghis, I am sure you will be told that all Paris hotels are welcoming to children, which is true, but are you looking for specific things in an hotel? Are you wanting connecting rooms for instance or a quad room and what is your nightly total budget for accommodation?
You might also want to look at some other threads that deal with holidays with children. On one I found a link to this frommers site has a few suggestions for family friendly hotels and one, Le Fleurie, has a good reputation with a number of people on this forum but might be too expensive for 2 rooms (I dont know anything about the others)

There have been a few threads recently looking for quad rooms for families of four that might be useful to you (I located them by keying in quad room in the search box at the top of the list of posts on the Paris forum -

Using the search function and typing in kids or children will bring up a number of threads dealing with suggestions for things to do in Paris with children - this is one

This site also has some ideas of things to interest children - there are links to various museums at the bottom of the page

Hi Genghis,
We just returned yesterday from a short break in Paris with our 3 children (youngest age 11). We stayed at the Novotel Les Halles, Chatelet Metro Station. There were several families who like us were probably attracted to the %26quot;kids stay free%26quot; offer, kids play area etc.however I wouldn%26#39;t recommend that location with children.
It is not really mainstream, fine for adults and even teenage but not, in my opinion for children..........we were questioned constantly about what was to be seen around the hotel (many homeless, one complete with bed living on the pavement, another having a morning face wash in a fountain, a few drug addicts....... however we were only approached twice and asked for money).
There were also many gay bars and clubs and openly gay guys strolling in the nearby streets, fine if your kids are used to that scene.
We had a great time though, seeing the famous sights, and probably the children had more of an education than we had planned!!
A great place for views of the city is the Monteparnass tower, there is a fantastic enclosed viewing area on floor 56 with hands on computer questionaires for kids and adults and you can walk up to the 59th floor (it%26#39;s outdoors) to have another look and experience the wind.
It%26#39;s very safe and the children would enjoy it, also pretty cheap by Paris standards.
There are also jugglers, acrobatic roller skaters and other pavement artists around Notre Dame which are almost free and fun to watch with the kids.
The latin quarter is very busy with restaurants of all kinds, but fun.
Have a lovely visit.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn at the Place de la Republique. Read some of the reviews of this hotel on this website. It is in the 11th but has several metro stations directly in front of the hotel. There is a Monoprix in the Place. There%26#39;s a carousel in the Place. There%26#39;s a winter circus nearby (I never really understood much about this - it looks like a big indoor venue that probably has a circus and other things!). There are lots of fast food places and some French chain restaurants (Maitre Kanter and Leon de Bruxelles) right on the Place. There are also lots of regular cafes and even a little convenience-type store nearby that has wonderful French stuff to take out but the ambience a little like an American convenience store. My traveling companion liked to go there and bring stuff back to our room.
Booked in advance, online at the Ichotel website for Holiday Inns, you can sometimes get some good deals. I liked the French flavor of the building and rooms with the American comforts.
Walked to Notre Dame and the Centre Pompidou. We took the Metro a lot, though!
Also, I liked the little computer room (5 euros an hour for the Internet) and the fact you could for a slightly larger fee use the Internet on your room tv.

Hi Genghis, keep an eye on this thread by posting a reply - need not say much - to see where the original poster stayed with her grandchildren and check out the hotel that phred mentions in her post as it could also suit you.

We stayed at Novotel Tour Eiffel with our two children and they were elated. It%26#39;s a 10 min. walk to the Eiffel Tower--five minutes to the Metro station which we took everywhere we went except the Eiffel tower. It has a great pool,(though they weren%26#39;t thrilled to wear a bathing cap provided by the hotel) very modern, big rooms and bathrooms. Not close to anything else, but no problem getting there. Breakfast is free to them but costs you a lot--however, if you divide it out it%26#39;s not for a full breakfast.
