A couple of questions...
My hubby and I procrastinated in buying our tix from paris to barcelona, we want an over night train trip on a specific date. Are we screwed or can we buy the tix once we get to paris at the station or travel agency or something????
Does anyone know where the train station is in Paris? I am pretty much clueless. Thanks you for your help!

Hi Spanishbird, when I tried the sncf site it gave a lot of different Paris and Barcelona stations that you had to select as options to do the search with no indication as to which was fastest etc.

One guide I checked said many trains from France to Barcelona require a change at Montpellier or at the border. May I suggest that you make a new question on a new thread %26quot;Paris to Barcelona by Train Overnight - how to find the right train%26quot; or similar and maybe some local like MorganB with a broad knowledge of European trains might answer - your current question does not really let people know what the issue is. Good luck

I%26#39;m not quite clear what your prioblem is. Just go to www.voyages-sncf.com
input Paris as your departure city and Barcelona as your arrival city, select your departure date and time (try 18:00 although I think the actual departure time is later) and you should be golden for any date other than today, assuming the particular train you want is not booked solid.
I wouldn%26#39;t wait until your arrival in Paris as you want one particular train on one particular date, and, even if the train is not sold out, the type of accommodation you want might be. Could end up costing you a bundle..
One way tickets might be aa low as 80€ or so in second class multiple berth cabins that are segregated by gender, if you can still find discounted tickets. If your travel date is imminent you%26#39;ll probably pay something around 130€ if I recall correctly. First class fares can go as high as several hundred Euros each in a private cabin with shower.
The Elipsos night train leaves from Gare d%26#39;Austerlitz in Paris which is on the left bank just east of the Jardin des Plantes at the north-western corner of the 13th arrondissement. I%26#39;m fairly sure the arrival station is Barcelona Franca.
Read MorganB%26#39;s step-by-step guide to using the SNCF online booking system first as it will probably save you a lot of grief:

Hi Irish, nice to see you back. I had a problem just keying in Paris and Barcelona as the site required me to specify a station in Paris and/or a station in Barcelona
%26lt;%26lt;Nous avons plusieurs propositions pour la ville de départ et/ou d%26#39;arrivée que vous avez saisie. Vous pouvez consulter nos propositions grâce au lien ou choisissez ici. Merci. %26gt;%26gt;
and if you clicked on %26quot;ou choisissez ici%26quot; it gives lots of possible stations in Paris or Barcelona.

Paris Austerlitz -%26gt; Barcelona Franca

bibimbob is correct. Those are the stations I mentioned in my previous post. But I do understand the quandary, which comes up from time to time on the SNCF site, usually (but not only) with international trips.
The solution that I use, if I don%26#39;t actually know the answer to the question, is to select the most general of the options offered. For example, with a trip from Paris to Barcelona, if you leave PARIS selected as your departure and select BARCELONE (ES) (or it might be BARCELONA (ES), I honestly don%26#39;t remember which spelling sncf.com uses at this stage of the process) as your arrival, the SNCF algorithms will usually figure out the rest for you and give you the right answer. Once in a while this doesn%26#39;t work. When it doesn%26#39;t just use the %26quot;modifier tous les souhaits%26quot; link and select the likeliest of the other alternatives. Barcelona and Madrid tend to be difficult because there are so many options, and because trains at different times from the same place in France do not necessarily terminate at the same station.

actually this one was quite tricky. Usually I use bahn.de website and just put in random stations, and look at the outcome. This time I also had to do another websearch to compare the schedules.
