Train from Nizza to Milano

Hello. I will be in Milano in July and will be taking a day trip to Nizza. Some questions:

- How much is the fare from Nizza to Milano? (Checked trenitalia and couldn%26#39;t see the price, only time).

- What might a group of guys be able to do on a day trip to Nizza? Restaurants, shopping streets, outdoor cafes, etc...

Thank you in advance.

That%26#39;s a heck of a long day trip. The fastest trains take about five hours to make the trip. If you catch the first train in the morning at about 7:00 AM, and the last fast train back at about 6:00 PM, you will have about 6 hours in Nice.

But if you insist - have lunch in and wander through the old town, stroll the beach, sit in a café on the Cours Saleya and people watch, grab something to eat for the trip back, and you%26#39;ll be back in Milan around midnight.

IMO Milan (which could perhaps rank among the top five shopping cities in the world) has much better shops than Nice. (A group of guys want to shop???)

Fares are 30€ one way at full fare, half that with an advance purchase discounted non-refundable ticket. You might have to use the Italian language trenitalia.it site to book tickets, especially discounted ones.

BTW, there is at least one later train back but it takes about 6.5 hours with a change, I think in Genoa, and will get you into Milan about 3:30 AM.)

Using trenitalia.it , nice Ville to Milano Centrale, 2nd class, 45 Euro on EC trains. Perhaps you should change the date to within 60 days and you can see the prices.

Just checked for 7/20 and Trenitalia is showing 30€ each way with Smart Price tix available at 15€ each way.

Wow! Thanks for all the good feedback. I will definitely consider it.

Oh and by the way. IrishRovr. LOL. My friends and I like nice shirts. The opportunity to peruse different types than what you get over here in the states doesn%26#39;t come often. So, we%26#39;ll look, because we%26#39;ve never been to France. I know that Milan is considered the center of fashion so I%26#39;ll definitely grab some there. Know of any good stores?

LOL. Honestly, we will have the antennae up watching the gals but, since there%26#39;ll be five of us, we don%26#39;t want them getting too nervous or anything. Five tall dudes from the US, and I don%26#39;t know how they might react.

If you want designer labels without designer prices, try Salvagente, 16 Via Bronzetti. I think there is a Prada outlet somewhere in the general vicinity, but I know not where. Otherwise all the usual suspects, in glittering array, with prices to match...

|||

Yeah! i%26#39;ve heard of il Salvagente in Milano. I was wondering if you knew of any clothes shops in Nice. I probably won%26#39;t get anything but would at least like to peruse while I%26#39;m there.

|||

No clue. I can%26#39;t recall ever doing any serious shopping in Nice. I%26#39;ll let some of the Nice fashionisti handle that one...

|||

Okay. Anyone have a clue? :)

There are quite alot of boutiques etc. around the Ave Suede and Ave Paradis on the edge of the pedestrian area, just off the Rue Massenna, adjacent to the Place Magenta, there are also some others in Rue Liberte, not sure about the quality as i rarely venture into them, but all are very close to the many cafe/restaurants so you can have a bit of everything you are looking for without to much trouble, don%26#39;t forget to visit the Cours De Saleya (flower market) again lots of bars/cafes, suggest you visit Civette de Cours, sit under the canopy enjoy some drink and watch the world go by............
