We are traveling via train from Paris to Avignon. I noticed there are 2 stops -- Avignon TGV stop, then one I assume is downtown. Can we rent a car at either, or is one better than the other for car rental? Thanks in advance, this site has been a tremendous help in planning the trip!

Avignon TGV has car rental locations in the parking lot of the station. The advantage of the TGV station is the frequency of the trains and the train ride is shorter.

Thanks, Morgan. I am now waiting for email (hopefully) from sncf. I used sncf website to reserve train tix, put in all my credit card info, then clicked to confirm and screen went blank, never took me to confirmation page. Now I have no idea whether I have a reservation or not. I emailed them, and hopefully will hear back. Tried phone number in your previous post, but it didn%26#39;t connect. Ever hear of this complain before?

for international calling you need to dial 011 from the US. So it would be 011 33 etc...
I%26#39;ve never had that problem before. You might want to check your credit card for the charge. Typically you are sent an email with all your ticket info. Sounds like it didnt process.

sncf emailed back, I had to reenter all info and then it went through. Maybe it timed out the 1st time?? Unfortunately, lost the 1st class tix we originally had tried to book, none left when I reentered info (had a great price too!!), so we%26#39;re booked 2nd class, lower level:( Do you know if you can walk around to upper levels, or to dining car (if there is one)? Thanks for all your advice, it%26#39;s been very helpful (don%26#39;t know how I booked vacations before TA).

Sry the 1st classs seats were taken. You can move about the entire train from anywhere. You just go up a flight of stairs to the upper deck. There is a snack car that sells sandwichs and some hot items. No seating, some stolls or standing at a bar.

Just got back from there, and I rented a car at the TGV station. The rental agency is in the back. I choose that location because they are open more hours than some of the other locations. It is a very busy car rental facility, hundreds of cars to rent. All the big names agencies are there, and our agent spoke english. Europe Car was open until 11PM.
