We are planning a trip to Paris and are seeking advice on the above locations. We are travelling with small children and are looking to stay in apartments as opposed to hotels. We are looking at spending a week in Paris and would greatly appreciate any advice as this is our first time.

You are probably aware that both locations are not Paris proper, but the inner suburbs of the city, both with handy subway connections to the centre of Paris (accessible in about 30 minutes). These are formerly working-class, now well gentrified places, with convenient shopping, but with little architectural interest ( a lot of 1970%26#39;s apartment buildings).
If you absolutely want to stay in the suburbs, maybe I would give a slight advantage to Boulogne, due to the proximity of the bois de Boulogne (large park/ wooded area).
But is there any reason you do not want to stay in Paris proper, where you could also find a flat, which would be much more convenient for a visit?

Definitly pick Boulogne as there are 2 metro lines and about 10 metro stations, what will give you the opportunity to get to Paris very fast.
But as said before, why the subburbs ? especially those 2, where apartments are not cheaper than inside Paris.

Thankyou for your responses. Your comments are greatly appreciated.
The reason for selecting these areas is purely based on finding accommodation large enough to sleep all of us. We have had trouble finding accommodation. In many instances I have received no response to emails regarding places available for rent.
Also had an option on an appartment in Rue de Messageries in the 10th I think. What is this area like? Would it be a better location? How is it situated for proximity to shops (ie bread, food, and general supplies) and tourist sights given we are travelling with young ones.
Thanks once again. Appreciate the help.

If you have a choice with apartments in Boulogne choose closer to the park. It%26#39;s just nicer in general and it borders the 16th in Paris.

Thanks for your response.
Does anyone know anything about Rue de Messageries in the 10e I think. What is this area like? How is it situated for proximity to shops (ie bread, food, and general supplies) and tourist sights given we are travelling with young ones.

Rue des messageries is located in the 10th arrondissement, not far from the border with the ninth. It%26#39;s basically a relatively quiet , residential side street. It%26#39;s a typical, not unsafe, untouristy 19th century Paris neighbourhood (not %26quot;postcard Paris%26quot;) with some scattered shops and restaurants.
The closest food shopping street is rue Cadet, about 10 minutes away on foot. The closest metro shop is Poissonnière (line 7 which takes you in particular to Hotel de Ville (City Hall) at the very centre of Paris). If you are with young children, there is a small public park (Square Montholon) nearby, which has children play areas.
The location is reasonably central, but you will have to take the metro to visit the major sights. The rest is a matter of perception and personal tastes... Inquire more about the flat (which floor it is on, does it face the street or the courtyard, etc...)
You can locate the street on Mappy.

Thankyou for your comments Trudaine.
Both Boulogne and 10e properties are very similar.
The main issue I am having is which is the better location with the kids given they are 5, 2 and 1. Either property requires travel to see the tourist sights.
Does one area have better eating out and non touristy options to do with the kids than the other.
Perplexed.

I live in Boulogne Billancourt. Just tell me the adress of the appartment and I%26#39;ll tell you how the area is like.

Hi FranParis
I don%26#39;t know the exact address of the property but I am trying to find out. When I do I will let you know if that is okay.

I have a few friends who live in Boulogne and the area is very nice. The only caveat with where they live is that you have to take a bus after you get off the metro, they don%26#39;t live close enough to the metro line to just walk it.
But it%26#39;s a very nice area, they live near the Rolland Garros tennis courts.
If FranParis finds that the apartment is closer to the metro and you wouldn%26#39;t need to take the bus as well, I would go for Boulogne.
