Typically you have to sign up to use those booths so you would need a membership card. That machine should %26quot;belong%26quot; to a real brick and mortar store somewhere or even have a small door next to it where you can enter an office area to sign up. Hours are limited if they do have sign up at the location. I would assume you are renting DVDs ? If so most DVDs contain both english and french language tracks. I rented from one a few times but ended up switching to a manned store for better selection. I%26#39;m in the 12th so cant help you with locations in the 1st. There are a couple of rental places that specialize in english language rentals, they arent in the first however. You can find adds in the FUSAC for them.

Thanks. Have looked up locations for fusac and will seek out.

If you sign up to the company they you pay up fornt (from €20 normally) and get a %26#39;videocard%26#39; that you use to rent movies. It costs about €3 for 24 hours.
Or you use your CB (carte Blue) and pay about €5 for 24 hours.

found the %26#39;hole in the wall%26#39; at cinelouvre on Rue Coquilliere and going there tonight to join for 30E payment by credit card that allows drawdown as you rent - 2.80E for return within 12 hours. Thanks for your help everyone.

Does anyone know of a rental place near Saint Michele or Notre Dame 75005?
I found a CineBank machine but there%26#39;s no place to sign up.
Thanks!

Isn%26#39;t there some possible limitations to the DVD format used in Europe vs. the player you are using..?
|||
There are ways around the zone restrictions.

Travelnutty,
If you are talking about renting a DVD in France and then playing it on your laptop from home, yes there may be an incompatibility problem. But if you have a DVD/video player in your Paris lodgings....
For a good English language video/DVD store I go to Prime Time Video on the rue Mayet in the 6th. They have an excellent selection of BBC and US tv series for homesick anglos, as well as a decent selection of vintage and artsy stuff. For regular French films it is cheaper to go to Video Future. They are everywhere, but I know that there is one on the rue de Sevres, facing the rue Mayet.
