In mid-September, we will be leaving Paris on the Wednesday evening 8:43pm Eurostar, so we will need to be at Gare-du-Nord around 8:00pm or so. Can anyone recommend a nice cafe or bistro close to Gare-du-Nord where we can eat dinner and be done and to the train on time? I know that means an unusually early dinner by Parisian standards.
We%26#39;d hoped to go to Chez Jenny (near Republique) for their choucroute garni, but we would have to begin eating at 6pm and I am not sure that would work for them?? Does anyone know if they serve that early there? And can we get out of there, and to Gare-du-Nord by 8pm or so?
I can speak French, so it doesn%26#39;t need to be a tourist restaurant.
Thanks for any advice you can offer on this.

There is a brasserie across the street from GDN - called, I think, Brasserie du Nord, or Terminus Nord. It%26#39;s the sort of restaurant that reminds of the old movies - with brass and green glass lights and lots of wood paneling and bright white linens.
They are accustomed to folks who are taking trains, just tell the m%26#39;aitre d, and you%26#39;ll be informed which items on the menu will be the quickest.
We%26#39;ve eaten there several times under the same circumstances, and have had no complaints.

I had Christmas dinner at the Terminus Nord in 2004. It%26#39;s part of the Flo Brasserie chain, and good value/quality

Terminus Nord - but tell them you have a train to catch. You%26#39;ll a great meal.

Excellent, folks. Thanks for a great suggestion. As this is the last Eurostar back to London that night, we don%26#39;t want to be late. I%26#39;ll take my friend to Chez Jenny for choucroute garni next time.
I found this website: http://terminusnord.com/
By the way, any recommendations for dinner?

Depends on your budget, the fixed price two and three course menus are good value and seafood is their speciality. The surroundings and waiters are better than any cabaret!

Just made a reservation there -- thanks for all the great advice.
