TA Get Together May 22

Hi Friends,

We did this last year and had a blast. We%26#39;re planning a TA get together on May 22 for dinner at the Taverne du Sargent Recruteur. Last year, we had a reservation for 7pm and didn%26#39;t leave until midnight because we were enjoying each other%26#39;s company so much! If you%26#39;re interested, email me at vickisfloyd@hotmail.com. We%26#39;ll have a great time! You do need to contact me because we%26#39;ll need reservations. This restaurant is a lot of fun, all the wine you like and several courses included such as all the starters (appetizers) you want, main course, cheese plate and dessert. The price is about 35 Euro per person. The time is flexible. We%26#39;ll book the reservation based on the time most people request. Hope to see you in May!

Hi Vicki,

Sorry that I will not be in Paris at that

time. My TA Gathering last September

was great and I know that this one of yours

will be terrific too.

Have a glass of wine for me.

Best Wishes,

Randy

Bumping! There are six of us so far (and possibly 7). Anyone else want to join us? Here%26#39;s the info on the restaurant:

%26quot;Le Taverne du Sargent Recruteur%26quot;. Several people who have been due to my posting on the tripadvisor forum also loved it. It%26#39;s a 400 year-old restaurant and when you arrive and sit at your table, they bring out a basket of fresh garden (whole) vegetables and brown boiled eggs, another basket of different meats like salamis, etc., a plate of country pate, a tureen of vegetable soup, french bread and tiny cornichon pickles. You eat all you want of this and when you%26#39;re finished, they remove the baskets. This is just the appetizer! Then you can order from about 10 different entrees, followed by dessert and a cheese plate. They have their own label of white and red wine and all you would like is included in the meal. You can also choose rose‘ wine (it’s not their label but is included) Plan to spend at least two hours! The waiters are very friendly It%26#39;s about 38€ per person not your cheapest meal but extremely memorable for the price. Keep in mind that this price could change according to the season. When we were last in Paris, we met up with four other couples from the Tripadvisor Website to go to this restaurant. Since there were four of us, we had a group of 12. Everyone absolutely loved it! We were there from 7pm until about 12am! They would tell you as I do…don’t miss it!

There have been some negative comments about this restaurant, I think due to a Rick Steves review. It mentioned %26quot;tour buses full of people, drunken customers burping out loud and waiters yelling back and forth%26quot;. I love Rick Steves, but I don%26#39;t think he actually went to this restaurant. I cannot count the number of times we have been and have never seen any behavior remotely like that. We typically end up sitting very close to people from all over the world, and the conversation is great. And the place isn%26#39;t big enough for tour bus crowds!

Here%26#39;s a review from one TA poster, KimnCris:

we ate there 3 times on our last trip, so it%26#39;s fair to say that we liked it :)

we posted some pics on our website

http://kimncris.com/travel/parisfood.php

I know you saw them beforem but just in case you forgot that it was in there...

Anyway, I had the entrecote, cassoulet and beef bourginon. All were good- the steak was my favorite.

have fun!

Here%26#39;s another from TA Poster, MsSapphire:

We ate at Sgt Recruteurs late Sept at the recommendation of a airline pilot friend. The staff was friendly, the decor charming and the food keeps coming. Take a stroll around Notre Dame at sunset, shop along Ile St Louis and dine at Sgt Recruteurs. It%26#39;s different and fun. Try it!

And here%26#39;s a little note from one of the TA people who joined us last year.

Hi Vicki, It was a wonderful dinner party you put together for 12 of us from the forum last week. Your advice has been consistently terrific and it was a pleasure to meet you and Bruce (and all the others) on Ile St. Louis at the Sargent. Anyone who%26#39;s hesitating about meeting up with a group of posters in Paris -- just do it! Rhonda

My email address is in the original post, so if you%26#39;d like to join us, please email me so that I can have our hotel make the correct number of reservations.

Sorry about the long (long, long) post, but I wanted you to know what you%26#39;re getting into! Or what you%26#39;re missing. We would love to meet in person so many of you who we only %26#39;meet%26#39; here on the forum. Hope to see you at our soiree!

It sounds like you%26#39;re all going to have a blast together. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Shoesy - just hop on over from Israel and join us! By the way, I love your user name. My husband is a shoe freak and I have over 100 pairs or more. Every time we go shopping he absolutely must buy me shoes and I keep saying, %26quot;Honey, just how many pairs of black strappy sandals do you think I can wear in a lifetime?%26quot; He%26#39;s really irritated at me now because I%26#39;ve picked up the flip flop habit!

On another note, we really want to visit your country. It may well be our 2007 trip. We%26#39;re pretty devout Christians and I would love to visit some of the places that are so special to our faith. What forum are you usually on for when I start planning?

|||

First of all, you%26#39;ll be very welcome here any time you come. The Paris Forum is my first. It%26#39;s all very new to me, and I%26#39;m having a ball. BTW, I can%26#39;t hop over to Paris in May %26#39;cause I%26#39;ll be there in June. (Can%26#39;t wait!!!)

As for the topic of shoes, I just bought a new pair today. I love so many different styles, but limit myself to the ones that I find comfortable (and attractive!)

Vicki-

Love to me you...but can%26#39;t be there.

Have a drink for me too!

Randy and I will be getting you loaded!

Robin
