Air France Bus

Help please. Could someone tell me how to take the Air France bus into the city? I%26#39;ll be staying in the 6th. Also, could you tell me where it let%26#39;s you off and how much it costs.

Is this the easiest, cheapest way to go?

Thank you.

Fare is 12euro one way or 18euro round trip. It makes two stops, the first in a business area whose name escapes me and the second and last stop right near the Arc d%26#39;triomphe. I don%26#39;t really know how close that would be to your accomodations. There is a taxi stand right where ithe bus stops near the Arc, so we took a short taxi ride to the 9a.

I know there are several other options from the Airport, like the RER train that connects to the Metro system and several shuttle services. I%26#39;m pretty sure taxi would be most expensive, but for some folks the easiest and most convenient. We liked the AF Bus because we didn%26#39;t have to lug our suitcases around, but I doubt it is the easiest and cheapest solution for everyone. It just happened to stop very close to where we were staying.

I%26#39;m sure a local will be popping on to better advise you, or maybe you could ask your hotel for their best transport recommendation.

This is a pretty good summary with pros and cons- I see now that you are in the Latin Quarter- that%26#39;s not very close to the Arc. Maybe one of these other options would be better!

For airport transportation, easy and cheap have an inverse relationship. The easiest is a taxi but it%26#39;s the most expensive (usually). The cheapest is the public bus#350 or 351 but it isn%26#39;t the easiest (or fastest).

The RER is a very good choice for locations near blvd St Michel, because you could probably walk from the RER station. You%26#39;ll probably have to walk quite a bit thru Terminal 2 or take a free shuttle to get to the airport RER stations.

Air France goes to several train stations in Paris, then you could take the metro or a taxi to your hotel.

The hired shuttle services are door-to-door for around 18€ one way.

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; Is this the easiest, cheapest way to go? %26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

The answer depends entirely on where you are trying to get to, %26quot;The 6th%26quot; is a very large area, and the easiest way to one part of it may well be a difficult way to get to another.

So you need to tell us the name AND address of your hotel for us to be able to answer this question properly.

In general terms however, a taxi is the easiest way to get almost anywhere, and also almost the most expensive. The RER/.metro is the cheapest way to get anywhere, and frequently the most difficult, especially with heavy baggage.

There is more than one line of Air France busses....at least one of them stops at Gare Montparnasse ( the train station)..that might be closer to your lodging in the sixth than the line that stops a L%26#39;Etoile in the 8th...For one person, the 19 euro is a good deal imo...You just walk out the door at the airport and usually there is the bus waiting for you to hop on...It might make some mores tops at various terminals and then into town in about 45 minutes on average...The bus is like an American Greyhound or tourbus so there is a luggage compartment beneath the air-conditioned passenger compartment which is quite comfortable and also an attendant to load your big bag into the baggage hold as well...you can buy your tix from the driver...So check to see which spot...L%26#39;Etoile or Montparnasse train station ..is closer to your hotel....Then you%26#39;ll probably have a %26#39;petite route%26#39; taxi ride..just a short one as I did to my hotel in 7th from L%26#39;Etoile...I figure I spent half what I would have spent had I taken a taxi coming and going...However, if there are two of you and it costs say about 40 euros or a little ore to get to the sixth, then you are about breaking even for the total of two people paying 18 euros RT plus two short taxi rides to the pickup points....So go figure and you%26#39;ll know what to do...

|||

oh good grief...sorry for the typos in my previous post..most glaring error was the RT fare which is 18 not 19 euros...and must be bought obviously on the first ride...otherwise, two 12 euro one-way fares..

Have been looking at CDG to city transport myself. I decided that the shuttle bus was the best compromise between convenience and cost for a woman travelling alone to Paris for the first time.

People on the forum have consistently suggested that the shuttle bus costs around 18 euros. Can I just add in the extra fact, that for one person travelling alone, the cost is actually more. Golden Air (30E), Airport Connection (27E) and Paris Shuttle (which I%26#39;ve been put right off because of reports on TA, is the cheapest at 25E).

Apologies for plunking this here, it was the most active and recent airport transport thread I could find.

:o)
