Train to Bordeaux?

Hello..I was wondering about transportation to Bordeux from Paris..I would probably take a train..can anyone give me a rough estimate of the time it would take from one place to the other..and where the train station in Paris is located?

Thank you very much!

Hi! It takes about three hours to travel by train from the Montparnesse Station in Paris to Bordeaux. My family will be making the trip in July. I found that by purchasing a French Railpass we can have 4 days of travel for about the price of a round trip ticket. Hope this helps.

Bordeaux is 3 hours from Paris by Train. It departs from Gare Montparnasse which is in the South of the city.

can this trip be done in one day?

Making the trip in one day might be a bit rough. Personally, I prefer to spend more time where ever I land. There is so much to see and do, I%26#39;d like to spend more time in either location. We plan to see the chateaux and caves in the Sarlat neighborhood and are planning to spend 3-4 days in the area. We have been before and love the variety of Paris and the countryside.

tahnk you for that inof, and yes understand about putting too much in your trip - although i dotn plan to come back again too soon, i have a promise to go to greece and a work trip to Texas coming up.. so enought travle for a while .. where is Sarlat neighborhood please?

You certainly *could* make the trip in one day. After all people go on day trips from Paris to Londoin, but neither one would be something I%26#39;d like to do. There are places much worth visiting on a day trip that are far closer to Paris.

However, if you want to do it you can, and round trip advance purchase non-refundable tickets can be had for as little as 50€.

You can research timetables and fares at

www.voyages-sncf.com

where you can also purchase tickets Read this post of MorganB%26#39;s before attempting to place an order and it will make your life much easier:

If youre talking about Arriving in Paris at CGD and travelling on the same dat........

I cant see any problem with doing thr trip the same day, assuming you arrive in the morning.

From CDG the trip to Bordeaux will be about 4 hours. 2 hours (more or less) of this would be taken getting to wherever in Paris it is you decide to stay the night if you dont travel on the one day.

When I fly to Australia I have a 3 - 4 hour drive after arriving in Sydney - after 24 hours on the plane. Anyone who lives outside Paris would likewise usually drive home the same day.

A Big Advantage is that you can actually catch a train direct from CDG to Bordeaux. For Example:

AEROPORT CDG 2 TGV 07h39 TGV 5200

BORDEAUX ST JEAN 11h56 Journey time: 04h08

AEROPORT CDG 2 TGV 08h55 TGV 5040

BORDEAUX ST JEAN 13h03 Journey time: 04h15

AEROPORT CDG 2 TGV 13h45 TGV 5218

BORDEAUX ST JEAN 18h00 Journey time: 04h13

Plus another 4 trains during the day on weekdays

I didn%26#39;t think that either poster who was looking for info was travelling from CDG, though now that I look at the posts again it is certainly possible.

I was really responding to kkate8%26#39;s question, thinking you had already got the information you were looking for. But my answer to her applies equally to you, except that one way fares can be as low as 25€. If you are in fact travelling from CDG the lowest fare will be higher, probably more like 40-45€.

Sarlat le Canéda (to give it its full name) is in a region east of Bordeaux known as Dordogne. At a guess I would say it is around 200km east of Bordeaux.

Hi Irish Rover- Can you tell me more about these cheap tickets to Bordeaux? I am getting ready to purchase this trip for a family of 5 and am looking at approx $170 round trip. Your price is much better. I am suspecting the price difference may be due to them being purchased from the States.
